I have practiced criminal and juvenile defense law since 1994, and I am passionate about defending people. I am their voice, and I fight to get their cases dismissed, reduced or won at trial. I frequently set cases for jury trial and force the State to prove their case or dismiss it. More often than not, the trial case is dismissed, reduced from a felony to a misdemeanor or the client is found not guilty. In adult criminal district court, I also frequently fight felony cases at the grand jury by way of written defense packets. I have persuaded the grand jury to no bill (dismiss) more than 50 felony cases since 2008.
I charge separate fees for trial cases and non-trial cases. The fees are affordable to most people; however, if you cannot afford to hire an attorney, you should ask the judge to appoint an attorney to represent you.
I graduated in 1990 with honors from Baylor University where I studied Journalism, Latin American (Spanish) and Asian Studies (Japanese). I then studied at UNAM in Mexico City prior to entering law school. In 1993, I graduated from South Texas College of Law and began practicing criminal and juvenile law in 1994. I became board certified in juvenile law in 2004.
I graduated from Gerry Spence’s Trial Lawyers College in Wyoming. Founded in 1994, it is the most selective and prestigious trial advocacy program in America. The methods taught at TLC are not taught anywhere else. The 1,150 graduates form an extremely unique community of the most accomplished trial lawyers in the United States.
I grew up in Nashville, Tennessee and moved to Texas in 1987. I wasn’t born here, but I got here as fast as I could. I have been married to my wife Araceli for over 25 years. We have 2 children and worship in a Catholic church. I also earned my Eagle Scout award in 1982.
